Our son Tony was not yet eight when we asked John Hancock to assess his potential as a pianist.
Although I trained as a music student in the 1960s, his mother has no musical ability. Nevertheless we were delighted to discover – thanks to John’s patience and perseverance – that Tony really does have some latent talent at the keyboard. We are lucky to have a beautiful Victorian grand piano at home, and Tony worked hard to get his playing up to Grade 1 standard, and was duly awarded his certificate earlier this summer.
Under John’s tutelage he is already (at still only nine years old) branching out into jazz and swing playing, and thoroughly enjoying it!
John is a dedicated and talented teacher who draws out our son’s musical potential to the full. His approach is friendly and engaged, and we’re confident that John will steer Tony through the next grade exams with flying colours. Thanks John!
