I teach Piano because I enjoy teaching Piano I have been composing and producing music for many years and my musical compositions are still used for radio, television and media productions in the UK, USA and the rest of the world. I was, during the eighties, an exclusively signed composer with a large publisher and was presented with a gold record that you can see on the picture of my piano on the home page along with my various Associated Board of the Royal Schools of music certificates. Composer/Producer - Recording engineer - Commercial Production - Live Performer - Library music - Media music production - Musical Retail (which gave me my start as a Piano teacher) and a Piano teacher . I was honoured to be a guest speaker at the "Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts" where I was invited to speak about music composition and production. I now use my composing experience and skills to compose piano music for teaching purposes My interest in playing the piano started in my teens when I became fascinated with both classical piano and jazz/blues piano. This interest continued throughout my life and has indeed been the hub of my success. I have all round experience and musicianship and have over the years performed with big bands, small groups and solo piano. I started teaching when, in my twenties, I took a job as a demonstrator in a large showroom where I was also expected to teach piano for one evening per week. I took to teaching immediately and since that first start, I obtained the classical Piano grades, jazz/blues Piano grades and music literacy grades up to the recommended teaching standards and I still study even now. My bibliography on piano teaching reference includes: Heinrich Neuhaus - W Newman - F Waterman - D Rowland - S Oglethorpe - J Banowetz - Doctor Suzuki - T Gallwey - John Mehegan - P Harris and R Crozier to name a few. I would like to mention Andrew Claxton from the Oxford School of Music who has given me much encouragement; and Pamela Chilvers, a fine pianist and examiner for the ABRSM who has given me much guidance. I enjoy passing on a musical ability that people will enjoy for life. I will never stop teaching and will never stop learning I have studied under various tutors over my life including Michael Lambert (Trained at Birmingham Conservatoire), Andrew Evans (Head of Music, Lichfield Cathedral Choir School) Andrew Claxton (Oxford School of Music) And Pamela Chilvers (Examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music). I hold the greatest regard for my piano teachers and wouldn't have reached the standard I am without their guidance. John Hancock
